Android 4.4 KitKat update hits Google Nexus 4 handsets






       Having recently stated that the Android 4.4 KitKat update would be available “soon”, some Google Nexus 4 owners are now reporting the software patch is currently available to download.

“This software update will upgrade your Nexus 4 to Android 4.4, KitKat, which adds a number of new features and improves performance,” the update’s product description states. Highlighting some of the new features it adds: “Never miss a message with Hangouts, which can now bring all of your SMS and MMS messages alongside your other conversations and video calls.”

With the Android 4.4 KitKat update bringing a new launcher to the handset, introducing an improved Google Search app direct to the homescreen, the tech giant has revealed the software refresh will “search for nearby places in the all new phone app, and identify unknown callers with caller ID by Google.”

Available now as a free, over-the-air update, the Android 4.4 KitKat update lines up at 240MB in size and can be accessed through your Nexus 4’s settings and update menus.

Those who use their smartphones for work purposes will be pleased to see that the Android 4.4 KitKat update also enables users to “print documents and photos right from your Nexus 4 on any Google Cloud Print of HP ePrint printer.
