One of iOS 8’s biggest areas of improvement is in the keyboard, with headline features such as QuickType and the ability to add third-party keyboards so you can enter text in different ways. (There’s even one called PopKey coming that lets you quickly ‘type’ with meme GIFs!) But here’s a hugely handy little extra tip. If you tap and hold on the keyboard switcher icon, you’ll see a toggle switch at the top which can quickly switch between using iOS’s autocorrect feature and disabling it – useful if in the middle of a message you want to type in some jargon or some silly words with friends without autocorrect stepping in
Camera now has a separate manual exposure mode that enables you to enhance photos while you shoot. Tap on the screen in the Camera app to focus on that area (as usual) but notice the new yellow line to the right of the Focus Square. Slide your finger up the screen to increase the exposure and down to decrease it. This new function is tremendously useful for increasing the exposure in low light shots.
The new Health app captures data from medical apps linked to wearables. Open the Health app and tap Health Data; pick a category such as Body Measurements, and a sub-category such as Height and tap Add Data Point. Fill in the fields and tap Add to insert into the Health app. Ensure Show on Dashboard is set to On and tap the Dashboard icon to see the card with health data.
