Samsung Galaxy S5 is here, and it brings so many things in a box. There had been gigantic expectations peaking up prior to the official announcement of this smartphone

Design: The aesthetics of Samsung Galaxy S5 is again what we see every time a Galaxy flagship comes, it is plastic. In some ways, it feels good when compared to its predecessor. The S5 provides more grip while handling it. It is more textured & dimpled all through. The dimensions, 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm are not bulky in any way.
Display: S5 display output is very vibrant & considerably bright. Like its predecessor, it has again donned the same Super AMOLED display. Over saturated colors can be a factor, but many do like it.
Performance: The specifications say it all, it is loaded with Snapdragon 801 chipset that is blazingly fast, coupled with Adreno 330 video memory unit. App switching has gone to the next level. It all feels fluidic. Nothing stutters & everything launches quick. Along with this, Samsung claimed that S5 can deliver 11 hours of video playback, 10 hours of web browsing over LTE, 21 hours of talk-time or 390 hours of standby which is something that is very tempting to hear & think of. We’ll be seeing it better through when it comes to the hands.
Now, come to the power backup segment. Here, the battery is a 2800 mAh Li-Ion which supports this smartphone quite correct. Samsung provided a new feature called “Ultra Power Saving Mode”. For this, Samsung claims that you’ll get close to 24 hours from 10% in Ultra Power Saving Mode on the S5 which is impressive I’d say. The S5 is also water-resistant. S5 can survive for up to 20 min. in a meter of water which clearly means that it is not suitable for diving purposes. This feature can be really helpful in receiving calls in rains or in shower conditions. User will have to close the power port flap to avoid the water to enter into the smartphone chassis.
Advancements: Biometrics is the next big thing in the smartphone cosmos. S5 has that installed on it, but here it is a sensor which requires swiping your finger that is not that accurate or precise. The Apple’s iPhone 5s also got this feature but that is a kind of sensor that scans the still fingerprint. The biometrics of iPhone 5s is much more stable, efficient & accurate when compared to S5. Samsung is still behind in the biometrics of S5; user authentication & security mechanism is a point that should be looked upon.
Another newly added feature is the Heart-rate monitor which reads the pulses. This sensor is placed just under the primary camera. The user has to place and hold his/her finger to get the pulses reading. It takes 5-10 seconds to initiate the pulse call.
S5 is still the best smartphone around but when we see its predecessor, there is nothing very special that comes to our mind watching it upgrading again, a new smartphone from the Galaxy flagship series. Though, it is our initial watch over it. There are things that are still coming our way. The coming days will brought us more about this newly born successor of the Galaxy family.
